Photographers love Iceland. Even the most disciplined find it irresistible and inevitably run out of film long before the end of their trip. Perhaps the reason is the ever-changing light and landscape. Iceland covers a land area of approx. 100,000 square kilometres, ranging from ice fields and black volcanic deserts to lush green meadows and salt marshes.

As an island far out in the north Atlantic the weather can be both extreme and constantly changing, giving rise to swirling clouds, dazzling shafts of light and bright blue skies. Lakes and ponds are everywhere, and on calm days mirror the landscape. In the winter, ice and snow catch the available light giving a luminous quality to photographs.
